Curator’s Comments:
Desert Sheep is a superb picture- I second Amber’s comments made some time ago commenting on the striking simplicity and color palette. The analogous buff tones in the ground and sheep create visual harmony and a surprisingly peculiar quality in the surreal landscape. I also appreciate the asymmetry of the composition, and the way in which the animals move into the picture plane from the far right. The green hills also create interesting and irregular breaks in the long horizon. In some ways this photograph bears a resemblance to the piece entitled Frosty Morning. But whereas the later has a hazy romanticism pairing the darker horses with the misty ground and water, the sheep initially seem visually discordant with their environment despite the congruence of color.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
