Portfolios: December 2012 Curator Reviewed Art

Curator's Comment;
I see Doppleclops as a lighthearted glimpse into the confused directional navigation that is a symptom of contemporary life. The isolation of the two small human figures in the field of white space surrounded by twisting thought bubbles and arrow like shapes suggests a particular impasse. The spirals and dots add visual interest and emotional levity to the piece. The duality of the opposing black/white or ying/yang figures cancel each other out, as if neither choice or direction presented is the clear preference. I also like the subtle monochromatic shifts between blue and black, both inks having a quality of officialism. These drawings initially appear simplistic but are elegantly crafted, and sophisticated in their relationships between economic forms to tell a story.
