Like a song stuck in your head, Earwyrm playfully erupts from grates in the floor all around the gallery space: weaving in and out of the viewer's perceptive field, inundating the space with the suggestion of a much larger subterranean presence.

Thank you for the warm welcome Kristen, and I sincerely appreciate your thoughtfully considered feedback! I have just graduated from college last month and I'm currently trying to orient myself in the larger art world and figure out what's next. Talk about vertigo! Anyhow, this website is a breath of fresh air, and feels like it could be a good touchstone.

Welcome to the site! I’m intrigued by both the two and three-dimensional work you’ve posted, especially as they vacillate between media and formal abstraction, representation and surrealism.  I’m most attracted to the work entitled Earwyrm, what looks to be a writhing large scale sculpture. The manner in which the severed appendages meet the floor suggests its moving through, and beneath the solid ground.  The overall blue color is an interesting aesthetic choice- somewhat negating the organic/biomorphic quality of the entity.  The color may also serve to add levity to the piece, as it increases the impossibility. But rather than holding a sinuous shape, the slight bends and irregularities of the arms are reminiscent of a flatworm or other soft bodied animal. These articulations slow down the eye as we move across the artwork.  The ear is ultimately a wonderful foil to the form, serving to further animate the body and transmit an aura of sensory awareness to the viewer.
