Thank you for featuring my work, and for a very thoughtful, and pretty acurate comment on the piece.

Curator’s Comment:

Loss is a piece that concurrently embraces whimsical and macabre attributes.  As in many of your animal based works, the rabbit head on the human torso presents a confounding but intriguing combination of anthropomorphized form.  I see the unexpected rabbit head as injecting defenselessness or prey-based pathos into the injured body, from the slashed wounds to the amputated hands. Looking away from the viewer, the figure is even more sorrowful in its uncomfortable contortion.   The soft buff surface color reads as fur or flesh, and the slightly darkened injuries as healed. I was a bit surprised to see the actual height of the sculpture, imaging it on a smaller more intimate scale. Perhaps the stoic physicality of the art object creates a feeling of strength to counter the elucidation of victimhood or vulnerability.

I also really like the mixed media rabbit collage you have on the site.  The fusion of disparate design elements against the rabbit form develops an interesting narrative.  The deckled organic edges of the paper wonderfully contrast the regular grid-like webbing that looks like lace or an animal enclosure. I would like to see the rest of the artist book.
