Curator’s Comments:
This intuitive piece enjoys an erratic, free distribution of line and marks; wholly sensory and slightly volatile in its red and black splattered paint. The reference to poetry and text reminds me of Cy Twombly, as does the somewhat ironically legible ‘Claridad.’ While this piece seems more about obfuscation than clarity, there is a palpable mystique in the primal, haptic expression. The gesture perhaps is the content. The process itself could also be automatic. But formally, the gold and muted orange-brown tones in the ring at the bottom of the picture frame and threaded through the central cut marks soften the work a bit, and offer a fleshier alternative to the primary black, red and blue color palette. I had hoped to see more of your work on the site, as this piece no doubt is part of a larger gestalt.
