One from a series of portraits done in acrylic on yupo paper. These portraits arose spontaneously from random lines and paint strokes that were moved on the surface until a face, or a partial face arose. There were no preliminary ideas as to a particular face, no models or photos. Sometimes, the results revealed faces I've seen before in life, dreams, and media. There are others that have no familiarity. All were considered complete when I sensed that a person was revealed.
I often think about what's beneath the professional head shots, the filtered faces on social media, the people behind the surgical masks. These images are a response.
