Curator’s Comments:

Welcome to the site! I enjoyed viewing your paintings. They demonstrate a strong blend of classical figuration and expressive mark-making.  Man Seated has a particularly subtle intersection of representational chiaroscuro and striated gestural lines.  I like the lines moving through him, along with a broader swath of the picture plane.  The diagonal trajectory of the lines effectively moves the viewer directly to the subject, while allowing the texture to break when it crosses his form in highlighted areas. I also appreciate the generally muted color palette, which vacillates between local color and moodier sepia washes. The landscape entitled Shelby Park, while obviously different in subject, shares an interesting mix of natural light and what seem to be more deliberately concentrated shadow patterns.  I look forward to seeing more of your work.
