A Taste of Winter

Mixed media on canvas. 61cm x 61cm. The first few snows that hit the high country leave a dotted pattern upon the rocks and frozen ground. Ice begins to form along the edges of the lake and the autumn leaves stalwartly decorate the landscape as they wait for the inevitable. The combination of vivid oil color blended with cold wax blended gives this post-impressionist landscape a thick rich texture which emphasizes the season, and titillates the visceral senses.
