Curator’s Comment:
Overall, I think your illustrative style has a vibrant ebb & flow between realism and more fantastical, abstracted segments. This piece in particular- Fishcrow Okra Snow, has a really pleasing distribution of decorative elements and space. The color scheme tilts slightly towards a more romanticized scheme rather than true local color- as if everything is just a little brighter and more lush. The slices of okra pods become small green sunbursts in the clouds, but I can’t decide if they’re ascending or descending. The crow has a gorgeous reflective surface- the cooler tones shimmer in a jewel like manner. I do wish he wasn’t quite as grounded in the space, and the marshy green clumps of land hold him down and crop him in a way that restricts his potential flight. The verticality of the picture plane conversely moves the viewer skyward and opens us up to all possibilities.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
