I was happy to see your new work on the site. I instantly recognized the first three mixed media works as your signature style, but paused at Flowerbed, which is surprisingly composed. The dense and vivid central core of the piece resonates as an abstract organic green shape with more realistically articulated (photographic) flowers inside. It’s interesting how areas of flat, opaque color drift into more modulated hues at the top of the painting. It’s as if the viewer is placed at an aerial view of a treetop, but simultaneously grounded along the bottom edge of the trio of tiny houses. The title enhances this sense of natural containment within a structured housing community. But the grounding nature of the house structures combined with a floating cloud of flowers also suggests a daydream of aspirational beauty rather than an already planted bed. I’ll look forward to spending some more time viewing your other pieces. They each, in different ways, offer visual complexity and unusual passages of color through compartmentalization. Thanks for sharing these new works.
