Animals are often clichéd in art. The challenge is to get the spirit of the animal without falling into the trap of cliché. As with Dolly, thank you again for looking at the work, and for your astute observations.

What could be an otherwise cliché image in lesser artists’ hands is a captivating portrait of a dog.  At once a hulking beast and a soulful being, his large dark form presents a beautiful contrast against the whitish negative space and the actual balls.  The subtle colors on the fabric/ground near his body blend effortlessly into his muted surroundings.
