I like the use of the ribbed scraping tool. Sparsely, this brings in housing/mudding techniques used in construction. The gridding can work but I would be carefully of overdoing the symmetry. There is a tendency to formalism and a rigidity you might attempt challenging. This piece has a frame inside a frame for example. If it were off-center or cockeyed it would throw out the rule book and let your mark-making take over. Think obliques.
