Curator’s Comments:
The gorgeous smoky blackness of this drawing just sucks me in. While the two structures seem most obviously derived from industrial smoke stacks, there is a sense of dark duplicity that recalls the twin towers. The overall mood of this piece is decidedly more ominous that the other works in your on-site portfolio. But the organic quality of the piece is also echoed throughout equally foreboding and compositionally economic images such as Beautiful Envy. On closer inspection, the plainly titled Two (Drawing) depicts splayed bases at the bottoms of the dual pillars, suggesting rooted tree trunks. But whatever the origin of these structures, there is a quiet serenity and strength in their somber repose. I also see the psychological presence of ‘two-ness’ as an implied remedy for darkness.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
