A first viewing of Green Horizons appears to be a perceptibly minimalistic piece.  But the tactile buildup of striated color moves through the composition, providing a haptic layering of marks with a landscape orientation.  The work also comes together as a slightly off balance diptych, with the left half expanding to a slightly larger width. But the horizontal green lines against the higher chroma pinkish ground on the right provide ample counterbalance of visual weight.  The painting suggests a much quieter space than your other layered collage works.  The solid juxtaposition of relatively calm fields offers fewer shifts in directionality and color, which is almost hard to reconcile with the more dramatic and lively collage works.  Blue and Torn come closest, formally, to this hard lined duality. But this piece also seems to be as much about layering paper substrates and textures as it is about dichotomy or contrast of space.  The extension of the orange horizontal band through to the opposing half is a strong connection to somewhat disparate operations.
