Curator’s Comments:  

Hermit’s Hollow came up on the site recently in a random viewing.  I remember commenting on your elegant work several years ago, marveling at the striking use of negative space against passages of intricately modeled form.  This mixed media piece is equally as dramatic and engaging it’s distribution of dense and airy space.  But I also appreciate the manipulation of a subtle pinkish-brown color wash in the background.  The pale fluctuations create a warm organic ground for the cooler drawing, which appears to contain fragments of landscape and architecture.  A tree form grows up vertically in the space, but also anchors the loose tendrils of feathery line with horizontally reaching branches and roots. I particularly like how the bottom of the piece suggests the dripping of paint (or water) along the thin drawn lines, coupled with more intentional or mechanical grid lines.  The formal verticality is echoed between the contrasting elements.  I would love to see where your studio practice has taken you- please do consider posting new works to the site if you’re able.
