Inner Piece(s) looks to be a formidable, inward searching work on human scale.  The emptiness of the constructed head and portions of the limbs suggests an open gestalt; the breaking apart of the form paradoxically heightens its sense of completion.  I especially like how the sculptural base is integrated into the work, as it suspends the visual weight and mass of the lower body.  The color of the steel also creates an interesting dichotomy of surface, as the strips are feathered and move up and away from the form.  Normally associated with a smooth and mechanical skin, the textural handling of the long pieces of metal suggests a figure spinning out of, or into, control.
