THANK YOU FOR YOUR REVIEW I SINCERELY APPRECIATE THE CRITQUE. I AM CURRENTLY WORKING ON A MEDIUM SIZE ALUMINUM SCULPTURE (APPROX. 48 W X 66 H X 72 L). HOPE TO HAVE IT COMPLETED BY THE END OF APRIL.

ALL THE BEST.

I see an exquisite but contradictory warmth in this piece, as the brown patina betrays the metallic surface normally associated with aluminum. While I see all of your sculptures (posted here) as being based on systems of one sort or another, there is a particular woven aspect or ratio to Razor that also calls to mind objects of utility.  The crossing and overlapping of the linear elements has a formal relationship to basketry, or a rope bottom of a larger vessel. It also appears to be a separated part of larger whole.  To that end, I find your narrative notations about some of your other pieces quite provocative. Several sculptures appear to be architecturally inspired.  While I don’t see the literal birds in your piece titled Raven, I appreciate the physical and psychological tension created by the taught wires and opposing cantilevered planes. There is also a feeling of opposition between the sculpture and its broad base, as if the object is pulling itself up and away from the black granite foundation.  The central shape pointed downward also reminds me of a fulcrum, from which the other elongated pieces could pivot, or mark time.
