Thank you Jon- it's my pleasure to spend time looking at your work.

Dear Kristen,  Thank you for your review.  It is so validating to read the comments of someone who knows what they are looking at.  Also refreshing is the language you use which is not overly esoteric or pretentious.

Thanks again,  Jon

I like the up-front simplicity of this image- the composition and shapes provide crisp, clean edges.  But within those cut out shapes the viewer is rewarded with a wealth of textural and color variation.  I particularly like the warm orange background and bottom section- the grounds fill the composition with rich tonality, and help to contain the various disparate elements.  Splitting the collage up into large sections also keeps me moving within the space.  Rather than a dominant central focus, the subjects stretch across the picture plane, and animate the languorous environment. I also find the landscape orientation works well with the reclining animal below- giving a peaceful, enveloping space to the subjects.  While I can’t make out the specific identity of the vertical forms on the table structure, their straightforward presentation is both uplifting ( totemic ) and profane, as in common vessels or vases.
