Curator’s Comment:
While your three dimensional regal puppets and bust are incredibly well executed, I am most enamored with Sunday Morning. Perhaps because the two dimensional surface allows you to create more ambiguity of space, the mysterious qualities of the painting are incredibly sophisticated and layered. The detailed natural subjects have an alchemical quality, reminding me of Flemish allegorical Masters. The background is beautifully muted, letting the fanciful and animals take center stage. I think for me what creates the marvelous uncertainty of space, in addition to the deeply layered color, is that the fish exists in the same environment as the bird and snail; water becomes breathable, and the blue-green air reciprocally thickens to an aqueous haze. The faint blue butterfly anchors the weight of the top section of the piece, providing varying degrees of contrast and contributing to the airy atmosphere.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
