Hi Kristen @Resident Curator...I totally forgot I had this profile up until I saw a notice of your email comment on my work.  Thank you so much for your observations and feed back.  It's great to know that my intent is received in the spirit in which the work was made.  There is just way too much social networking to keep up with it all.  I look forward to reading more of your observations of other work on here on this site.  I hope you will add me as a friend.

Curator’s Comments:

The installation of books against this photographic image supports the impact of overflowing, all consuming excess- of flesh and in the spirit of self-help.  I didn’t realize they were all diet books until I saw the detail shot, and while this certainly makes a more specific charge about our cultural obsession with weight and food, taken in its totality it also points to the objectification of the body, beauty, and dissipation. The photograph is lush, large and full local color, while the erratic stacking of recognizable titles plays nicely against the physical pile. Falling Out All Over can be seen as a sympathetic plight of a model, or a contemporary post-Industrial Odalisque. There’s irony of course in knowing that her pose and proportions would have been read differently in an earlier era, or in times of ration.  I like the other two installation pieces you have posted on the site- they’re quite smart, and visually engaging as well.

Hi Brenda Normally I don't care for installation art. Rarely do I have the patience to try to "get it". But in this case you have hit a nerve and it has an immediate impact...Wonderful image!!
