Curator's Comments:

Malibu Tulips is congruous with the rest of the bold graphic works in your portfolio on the site, and so I’m surprised it has escaped my attention until now.  Coming up randomly on the site, I enjoy the crisp primary and secondary hues, and irregularly compartmentalized shapes. This painting, as with the others, is abstract bordering on non-objective, but maintains a (tenuous) connection to familiar subject matter.  In this instance, the title also helps to anchor the viewer within the active design. The painting employs flat, pure hues, but I’ve noticed similarly constructed works offer evidence of brushstrokes within the various sections.  I also find it interesting that some boundaries are outlined in pronounced black contours, while others naturally shift between color values.  Malibu Tulips creates a particularly smooth movement through the composition, and lifts me up into the fresh, dynamic space.
