Beautiful work! What medium?

Curator’s Comment:

These are exquisite paintings. Overall I’m enamored with the seemingly loose and animated attention to particularized and detailed shape while the compositions maintain an erratic, almost explosive combustibility. While medium isn’t identified in this piece, I’m intrigued by the milky waxen ground that hosts the linear tendrils of line.  The small circular shapes intimate tiny eyes on a wired network of thin arms, as if attached to a biomorphic but faintly technological web.  I also like the clustering of a denser ‘hub’ in the bottom right of the picture plane.  It reads as an energy source to the possible spontaneous escalation of the dark threads.  The first (Untitled ?) piece numbered with 3, also shares an engaging formal dynamic.  Much denser than the later piece, I find these shapes or symbols take on a map-like appearance.  This could also be attributed to the color scheme.  The earthy brown tones set up against the aqua blue shapes suggest land and water.  Dotted lines and clustered vignettes of grouped color also allude to crossings or linear movement traversing a larger mass.  A more literal read interrupts the lines as being attached to electric or telephone poles.
