Moby's D*** Whale

Hand Crafted from Abalone, Bone, Aquamarine, Pearls, Amethyst, Garnet, Amber, Azurite/Malachite Mix, Glass, Fossilized Snail, Kaolin Chert Indian Scraper, and an Indian Artifact

This one was a doozy—the largest, most complex balancing acts of any mask yet to date. The head is made from a Brazilian agate. I added amber and azurite / malachite for an eye and used bone to represent the flippers. The bottom section of the body is also comprised of bone as well as a piece of art glass. The top section of the whale body is made from a Kaolin scraper knife and an Indian artifact. The large whale tail, made from aquamarine, amethyst, pearl, garnet and bone, balances out the piece. I used a fossilized snail for the base of the waterspout shooting silvery water out the blowhole up into a dance with abalone. I added a sterling frame that helps support the weight of this giant and effectively keeps the piece together.
