Morning Celebration

Mixed media on canvas. 91.4cm x 61cm.Private Collection. A joyous beginning to a winter day as the sun streaks the sky with color. The light is reflected upon the snow that blankets the flora and the fauna that surrounds this New England salt marsh in winter. Painted in celebration of the birth of the artist's first grand child, born during the blizzard of 2003. She received the call, just as first streak of light broke the horizon. The use of cold wax in oil gives wonderful texture to the painting. But it is the addition of ground pottery shards to the rocks and trees that creates a truly sculptural piece.
