Nebulous Recollection of Space is an authentically poetic work.  It has a strong painterly presence, but the robust slashes of intense color present in your other pieces seem to dissolve into amorphous matter in this work.  The creamy white and pale yellow-orange shifts of space are also enticing.  The arrangement conjures a physical presence of objects, such as arranged in an austere still life.  The warmer neutral brushstrokes float in and out of the ground, offering up a thoroughly seductive surface. But as the title suggests, there is also a hazy denial of specificity.  The viewer is lulled into the picture plane through the ghost of a table ledge or plane.  Darker brown and red lines appear to tangle in on themselves and have a transient solidity.   I’m also attracted to Conversation with a South Carolina Sand bar since it also keeps me on the periphery of filtered representation.  Sharp edges of space can be deciphered, and here more opaque and solid planes of primary color push and pull at the shallow depth.  While the saturated red adds glowing warmth, it isn’t completely opaque, and is tempered by the lower chroma tints of violet and neutral hues spilling out from under the shapes boundaries.
