Curators Comments:

I realize this piece, No Parking, was posted some years back, but it’s come up under a random selection, and I’m quite attracted to its color and unusual composition.  The asymmetry of the photograph holds a certain kind of found versus orchestrated artistic dissonance that is both appealing and compositionally surprising if not jarring.  The eroded and degrading wall surface is elegant in the rough value pattern and complexity within a narrow range of pinkish hues.  The parking sign and wall pipe provide graphic relief from the overall organic texture, and direct the eye throughout the picture plane.  The subtle incline of the ground adds further shifts in the grid of the bricks above and below.  I hope that you have returned to the subject in recent years for inspiration.

Thanks, Jay. Cities have a beauty not always recognized.
