Opti-grab

Pearls, black onyx, garnet, tumbled clear quartz, abalone and shell

This mask is inspired by Steve Martin’s film “The Jerk.” In the film, gas station attendant Navine Johnson, played by Martin, fixes a customer’s eyeglasses and inadvertently discovers a new invention, which makes him a very rich man. After yucking it up with the elite members of society, his invention backfires and everyone who wears the “Opti-grab” eventually becomes permanently cross-eyed. Navine is sued and loses everything and is once again on skid row. Whenever I am feeling down and out, like a real jerk, I pick up the Opti-grab and realize that things could always be a lot worse.
