Thank you for the kind comments. What you noticed about the paintings are technical aspects I am working on

while still trying not to lose the painting's unique emotional aspects. This makes me very happy!

Curator’s Comments:

Oranges x 2 is a substantial little painting that commemorates pure sculptural form with a juicy color palette. The deep orange hues are intensified next to the edgy violet shadows. I like how they unexpectedly come up against a creamy yellow ground.  The close cropping of the still life objects paradoxically assumes a grander scale. The oranges are also rendered significant through attention to surface texture and color, and in the selection of their quintessential pairing. Of your figurative pieces I am most attracted to Desdemona because of the dramatic simplicity of the space, and the unexpected background.  She doesn’t necessitate the literal physical trappings of a literary narrative, but instead, like the oranges, the viewer intuits her form on a more visceral level. The cool color story of the skin alludes to death in her reclined position, while the hot saturated red intimates passion with an atmosphere of surrounding violence.
