Thanks for the great review. Its about not being afraid to share yourself with the world. Nature or in this case, the birds, will have its share of your sprinkles, but there will always be something sweet left to give to others.

Curator’s Comment:  

 

The idyllic figures and blissful landscapes seem to heighten in crescendo in the piece entitled Birds on my Cupcakes!  The slightly forward tilting tray makes a not so subtle offering to the viewer.  The luscious candy-colored hues and confetti like strands are wonderfully interspersed with the small sparrows.  The birds more natural and neutral coloration connects them to the soft landscape out off on the horizon, but their presence also lends an even dreamier presence to the sweets. Formally, I like that the pale pinkish-violet table top creates a large band at the bottom of the picture plane, which is repeated by the tree and sky lines in the background.  Breaking up the space into horizontal stripes that alternate between the layers on the tray provides animated visual interest without jeopardizing vertical stability.
