Thank you for calling my attention to this wonderful new piece.  I’m struck by the way the dark granite base virtually disappears into the (photographic) image, and am wondering if it would appear similarly understated in person.  Either way, it does seem to provide a minimalistic physical grounding and counterweight for the suspended pieces- an arguably more daring distribution of visual weight in your work.  The center section calls to mind interworking gears, but I’m not entirely sure I understand your added notation about static kinetic movement.  Is this an arrested movement chosen from a range of possible positions? I do enjoy the orchestration of the pieces, and the way the sculpture was designed with delicate intervals of space between the arms. It suggests a discipline and restraint of gravitational force.  For me the austerity of the color also calls to mind aeronautics or at least a streamlined engineering. I imagine the smaller scale invites a viewing experience that is akin to engaging with a maquette.  The sculpture engages the mind with more spatially expansive associations, such cantilevered architecture, astronomical tools, and flight.
