Curator’s Comments:

Hello Dennis! It’s always a pleasure to view your artwork.  Thank you for alerting me to this new sculpture on the site.  Prime Time surprises me a bit given what I know of your studio practice, as it appears to be constructed almost exclusively from found objects rather than from cast or formed metal components. I see the move away from a unifying metallic surface towards matte primary colors as contributing to the whimsical nature of the piece.  The wheel at the base it another playful suggestion that the object is in flux, (kinetic) despite the almost precarious stacking of physical elements. I like the choice of a round base, as it echoes the geometry of the wheel and other contained shapes within the sculpture, and visually moves me around the piece despite my static view.  I find the title curious, and almost contradictory, as the sculpture has an openness of form and inclusiveness in representation.  I would love to hear your motivations for this new work.
