Curator’s Comment:

These is an absorbing and fascinating piece, as the various media are at once dissonant, and yet highly integrative by way of drawn tensions in shape and content.  The nail points and thread appear to map out a cosmic design, or astrological formation, as the organic figurative form underneath bends and folds to the linear strain in the chords. I see the piece as dream like in its partial representative quality, and its obscured and torn edges. The organic shapes in the comers lack specificity, but also appear skin like, and palpable.  The subject of hands conjures the notion of a creator behind uncertain fate or mapped out destiny.  For while the hands don’t directly control the strings, they fold in on each other, as if in the very act of making, or destroying.
