Realizing this painting was created some time ago (it came up during a random search of images) I’m very attracted to the organic abstraction and soft color scheme.  It has a lush palette evocative of a garden or floral bouquet, but the higher chroma colors aren’t centralized in a manner to create strong hierarchy of space.  I like that there are irregular openings of space along the cooler blue and lilac edges, but they exist in an unpredictable pattern.  The loose brushstrokes present an active momentum, but the curling edges of the smaller shapes directionally move the viewer back into the picture plane. The title- Stacey Returns in Lilac Season to Bow to the Teachers Within and Without- is humorously poetic, but also somewhat ironic without a broader context.  The title, like the art work itself, appears to be a segmented piece of a further reaching train of thought.
