Curator’s Comments:

Coming up in a random search, I’m struck by the sensitivity of this drawings coupled with the erratic, aggressive black marks.  The sweeping ink strokes across the top of the figure, where the head would be, give the work a sense of mystery or unexpected censorship.  As a type of conceptual and psychological negation, more emphasis is ironically placed on what is omitted.  The background markings suggest an illegibly scrawled text, perhaps offering a subconscious subtext for the erasure.  In terms of composition, I also respond to the more subtle ink wash in the folds of the garment below; they formally offset the contrast in the top, and offer fluid markings within finely articulated lines.  The piece is sensuous and engaging. I realize the drawings were posted on the site some time ago.  I do hope you post new pieces or works in progress.
