Curator's Comment:

Eye Glass is a captivating image; exhibiting some of the same Classic Romanticism of your marble bust portraits, but with more spatial ambiguity.  I quite enjoy the relationship between the central cool tomes and warmer sepia decorative motifs along the perimeter of the image.  There looks to be organic growth surrounding the eye- literally branching out and connecting it to the filagree pottery designs.  The hard brown/wood corner and handle of the magnifying glass help anchor the circular movement in the piece. Of course the large lens itself intensifies the emphasis of the focal point, and imbues the subject with an all-seeing if not ominous presence.
