Curator’s Comment:
A captivating architectural structure, fluid movement seems to be momentarily suspended in the aptly titled Walk on Water. The sinuous line quality calls to mind organic tree branches and vines in addition to a more liquid state. The proximity to the water feature below enhances this sensation. I especially like the curling ends of the walkway, which elegantly coils back onto itself. The truncated shape of the thin supports pulls the visual weight along the top of the piece, giving the illusion of erratic growth, or upward movement. It looks to be made of copper, and a patina will undoubtedly add richness and dimension to the physical coloration over time. The Chair- Mohave Grove-reaches further past its utilization function and transforms into a purely sculptural object. Its curvilinear lines appear to form more random tangles and bends, only slightly conforming to a vessel seat and back support. Its wide base offers visual stability, while the elongation of the structure stretches fragmented, Modernist shapes. This is incredibly imaginative and well crafted work- thank you for sharing it on the site.
