The Big Kahuna
A Tribute To Tom Curren

Antler Mounted Peacock Feather, with White Agate Bead and Heavy-Square Gauge Hawaiian Warrior Profile. He has Abalone eyes and a single Pearl eyeball, a Bone cheek with Red Coral and Black Onyx dimples. His chin clef is made up of Black Coral and a Shark’s Tooth.

This piece is a tribute to Tom Curren one of the greatest surfers to have ever lived or breathed. He won the World Surfing Title in 1985 and ’86, then again in 1990. He is an unbelievable surfer and a real cool guy. He’s into his own world and seems kind of distant but he’s able to be a “shaman on the water”. Meaning he knows exactly where he needs to be and when. On top of that he’s become an accomplished guitarist and remains one of my biggest idols ever since I was a child.

This is a very thoughtful tribute...that light source in pretty intriguing too!
I would agree with your "outsider artist" claim...usually I find people who use that term just want to dignify poorly executed works but I see you put a lot into these...was glad to see you pop into the crit forum; gotta run but I'll check out more soon.
Good work guy!
