The memories that brings back the art of the past establish a thread of communication with the story with which I try to establish a dialogue using icons that identify me with other artists in the pass and I integrate, as visual references, in my own work.
They are works in chiaroscuro, I mean, the image is not alone in the representation of the object, but in the tension that is created to limit it to an empty space where only a line defines the dramatic boundary between light and shadow.
They are open artworks who claim to speak for themselves and transmit the spiritual void that experience our modern society.

Curator’s Comments:
I just came across these provocative images in your historically referential series The Edge of the Past. I’m particularly attracted to the photograph Conversation with El Greco. The original portrait, dark and moody, is given over to a different and modern sensibility in the elevated positioning of the painting. The suspension of the visual weight of the blackness gradually fading into a lighter shadow serves to soften the original value pattern. I also appreciate the lighter band of neutral/tan space on the far left. It proportionally makes me consider the size of the figure in the space, and perhaps makes him slightly less imposing and direct. The color and space is warm and on human scale, and therefore invites the viewer into El Greco’s world.
