The Sand Man
Fossils, Chert & Sandstone
A new favorite of mine, this is the first mask I made without silver. This sandstone cried out to be put into a mask, but I didn’t want to kill that beautiful desert sandstone look. As a result, I spot glued two crinoids fossils for eyes and two additional fossils for nostrils with a piece of Kaolin chert sitting atop them for a nose. All of these colors blended into this open mouthed sandstone, which kept the mask looking “sandy.”
