Curator’s Comment:
It’s refreshing to see classical still life set against a stark white ground, creating an isolated taxonomy of sorts. The piece is unencumbered by traditional entrapments of academic arrangements. The vibrant use of reflective color and warm light imparts a luminous quality to the commonplace fruits. The simple triadic arrangement, with the deep red visual weight on top also instills an airy lightness to the overall composition. I particularly enjoy the small nuances of color such as the reflective yellow-orange shadow on the underside of the tomato. Echoing hues and shapes hold the forms together, and connect them to the spidery cast shadows. Your cherry paintings in particular share this appealing dichotomy of natural abundance against more austere surroundings.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
