While I generally prefer your more economic pieces with clean lines, I admire the chunky ruggedness of this ring. The substantial and heavy hammered band supports and balances the mass of chain/line and battered and dented spheres. I also like that the spherical embellishments echo the circular structure of the ring, and move the eye circular, but erratic patterns. It has a very strong sculptural presence as an object that moves beyond jewelry as ornament. While it’s difficult to make out the true color variation in this image on my screen, the mixing of gold and silver seems to provide relief from a uniform surface coloration, and further highlights the contrast between form and texture.
