It’s interesting to view this sculpture On the Edge among your other expressive paintings.  While it no doubt shares a gestural sensibility within its intrinsic linear movement, the clear representation of the figure plays off of the non-objective base on which he balances.  The metallic gold surface implies a level of human perfection or accomplishment.  This has strong associations when considered in the context of similar vertical stacked figures on geometric bases normally associated with trophies. But the action is taking place within the piece itself, rather than documenting or measuring its physical success.  It occurs to me that perhaps your paintings actually share a similar conceptual construction.  While generally devoid of recognizable imagery, each work has a grounding element on which the other marks appear to be balanced, or arranged.  There is a pleasurable tension between off-kilter shapes than appear on the verge of change.
