57H X 20W x 4D inches, left detail - white glue to stiffens cut muslin leaves, acrylics on canvas, wrapped sides, sturdy, custom-built stretcher frame, LED light system.
Signed on side. Credit also to my husband who created the intricate system of 30 LED lights around the frame (back).
The electric source is a rechargeable 12 volt battery placed neatly inside the back of the frame, with an easily accessible on-off switch.
The big leaf maple has the largest leaves of any maple, about 9 inches or 15–30 cm across with the largest about 24 inches (61 cm).

Hi again Linda, I'm so glad you liked the 'Trees' website - thanks! There are always new photos added too. Yes, some of the work in this collection is listed here - just check out the portfolios.

Hi Nikki,
I went to your blog and found my way to your site " Dancing With Trees" - I feel I have found a treasure of reference photos and facts. Thank you for the inspiration. From reading the little bit I did, I understand that you had an exhibit called "Dancing With Trees" is the artwork from that exhibit posted here on artist 2 artist? I love to see it.

Hi Linda, thanks for commenting. The muslin was first painted with white glue, dried, then folded. With each layer of acrylics, after drying, veins were reinforced by folding again and again. If you want to have a look at more details, the process is posted on my blog here http://www.nikkiartwork.com/trees/large-leaf-maple-wall-sculpture-u...

Nikki, I'm very inspired by this piece. Your attention to detail in the cutting of the leaf shapes and whatever you did to get the embossed look of the veins of the Big Leaf Maple leaves really makes this work so very well. That attention to detail with the juxtaposition of the bold painterly quality of acrylic paint is a visual delight.
