Curator’s Comment:  

 

The abstraction of Locating the One speaks to the primacy of human relationships. I like the energetic mark making and contrast between the large circular form on the right and the thin linear forms on the left.  Topping the thin shapes with smaller circles intimates a flower or figure, but also that they’re of the same ilk as the larger dark “selector”.   They seem to be growing from small grass below, either suggesting true growth, or rising out of a larger population.  I’m uncertain as to the meaning of “M” shape propping up the big circle- it appears cryptic and pictographic. But the spiraling red line clearly infuses a certain humor into the piece, reminding the viewer that locating “the one” is rarely a direct route.
