Deborah Cullen's Gallery

Born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, painting, art and animals have always been central to my life. I am a trained art teacher with a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts and a Graduate Diploma of Education. I gave up my full time teaching job about two years ago  to focus on what I love to do...paint and spend time with my animals.  

I have two dogs. Henry, a black Labrador, and Jack, a failed foster Ridgeback x. I also have a pink and grey galah named Riley.

As a carer of foster dogs, the merging of my love for animals and my career as an artist has been a natural and wonderful progression. When I first began to foster rescue dogs it was their energy and beautifully contrasting personalities that inspired me to paint them. Now I create custom pet portraits in a realistic yet fun, quirky and contemporary style. Design with strong, rich colour are important elements in my work and blend with my ideas and feelings to immortalise the unique personalities of the pets I paint.
