Artist Statement:
There can be a fine line between reality and fantasy, a means to escape what is real through imagination. Spending most of my life growing up in a small town in northern New Jersey, the woods gave my over active imagination a place to thrive. Sticks became swords and trash can lids turned into shields. I have always wanted to play out my fantasy adventures in places created by the minds of some of my favorite authors such as J.R.R. Tolkien and Robert Jordan. I may be to old to run around the woods with sticks but these fictional worlds still stand fast in my mind.
I was in this mindset when I decided to turn my fantasies into a reality by setting my younger self into a world of my own creation. Not only did I build off of the books and movies I grew up with, but I have created paintings that incorporate bits and pieces from my own experience as well as other influences in my life. I have created an in depth adventure by piecing together reality and fiction.
