In the he MAN/WOMAN painting series, I use the vocabulary of daily life and historical reference to inform the content of the images, melding classical figuration with contemporary context. These visual arrangements include varitions of pictorial language- scale, surface and space.
The images in this series investigate the interactions of interpersonal relationships within a time-frame. My objective in creating awareness of the multi-faceted roles of women, recognizes and views the importance of male/female relationship cycles.
In these paintings, balanced real and abstract elements coexist, to create images which allude to the myths of womanhood. The images in the MAN /WOMAN series, distinguished by evocative motifs, are activated by current issues and concerns of women, which challenge the uneasy boundaries of possession, perception and hallucination.
The SCHOOL LUNCH series is a pictorial essay of contemporary student life in real educational settings. This work presents images concerning the nature of relationships between women and men. My goal is to create humanistic awareness in a framework which is universally recognized. Contemporary cross-cultural issues and their emotional attutudes are explored in the shared experience of school lunch. SCHOOL LUNCH was generated from direct observation, drawing on-location, in the lunchrooms of NYC schools.
SCHOOL LUNCH underlines perceptions which affirm culturtal identity, brings together ideas espousing current concerns and encourages a belief in the quality of human spirit.
