In my work I manipulate color to create pure abstraction that resides within the space. I've done away with the confines of the rectangle, shaping my surfaces so that they become an expession of the work. Many different surfaces are used in an attempt to express the range of emotions that flow through the artist. A range of painting styles are also used to give the Push/Pull effect that flows within my emotions. The individual elements are executed as though they were standalone works. These elements are then composed to create one total work that will communicate the soul of the artist to the viewer. Form is manipulated within the space which, I feel, makes the work more organic. The wall where the work hangs (the place where the piece resides) becomes a part of the work. A form, color and composition is created that is abstracted to mirror human emotions.  Hate, Love, Separation, and Lonliness.  Pure Abstraction/Pure Emotion.

Reggie Singleton studied painting at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Strongly influenced by Minimalism, Lyrical Abstraction, and Chromatic Abstraction, he manipulates color and form to speak of those things that lie within his soul. Currently he is a member of the Poor Man's Art Collective, a group of artists who host their own shows around the Metro Detroit area, selling their art at affordable prices.
