This Hand Held Clear sculpture was easily overlooked among the large-scale sculpture installations in your folio I admired some time ago. Coming up randomly on the site now, I can appreciate it more out of that immediate context. While the similar but more opaque objects in this Handheld series maintain a decidedly corporeal, or bodily reference, I found this sculpture’s clear acrylic invites very different associations. While the designated reference to hands is still visually present, the semi-transparent appendages suggest a crystalline entity.  I also make connections between the clear solid to elemental water and vapor.  I assume the casting is of a model scale because of the description, but in this image devoid of an environment, the object seems fundamentally more expansive.  I also enjoy the sanded surface, which alters the plastic exterior.  The thin scratches- undoubtably more evident when viewing the actual piece- suggests natural forces and time working against the organic form.  Hand Held Clear, along with your other sculpture was posted quite a while back.  I would love to see where your practice has taken you, and hope you will consider adding new work to the site.
