Beach Life seems to be a considerable aesthetic departure from the intricate black and white designs I admired in your portfolio several years ago.  But I do appreciate the alternating bands of space within this coastal landscape.  Each has a separate visual approach to the scene.  The colorful umbrellas are rather flat; emphasizing the rainbow twisting stripes of high chroma hues, while the water has graduated values within the high contrast pthalo blue water’s edge.  The less intense color of the sky is a more serene respite from the graphic components, while the wispy white clouds draw our eye up into the sky and away from the sway of the umbrellas.   I like that the presence of people is felt on the beach by the leisurely objects, and yet the painting is devoid of specific human figures.
